Here Is Everything You Need To Know About Asus tuf fx705

The Asus TUF Gaming FX705 (starting at $999, reviewed at $1,299) is a well-priced mid-range gaming laptop with solid overall performance. Despite not having one of Nvidia’s newer, more powerful RTX graphics cards, the 17.3-inch TUF Gaming FX705 can handle modern games at medium to high settings thanks to its GeForce GTX 1060 GPU and 6GB of VRAM. The laptop also has a responsive keyboard and a vibrant IPS display with 144-hertz refresh rate. Despite its large, heavy chassis and poor speakers, the FX705 has made our list of the best cheap gaming laptops under $1,000.

The price and detailed specifications of the Asus TUF Gaming FX705

The FX705 starts at $999 and includes a 256GB SSD, a Geforce GTX 1060 graphics card, and an Intel Core i5-8300H processor. The $1,299 review unit included a Core i7-8750H processor, 32GB of RAM, a 256GB solid-state drive (SSD), a 1TB hard disc drive (HDD), and a GTX 1060 graphics processing unit (GPU) with 6GB of video memory (VRAM). A Core i7 CPU, 16GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD, and a GTX 1060 GPU are included in a $1,199 Amazon bundle.

Design and Build Quality

Remember, as I previously stated, that this is a TUF laptop. According to Asus, it has passed “military grade MIL-STD-810 testing.” To some extent, this could imply that the use of this laptop is acceptable to the US military. The laptop can withstand harsh environments such as direct sunlight and thermal shock, but you won’t notice anything when using it at home. Although I took care not to drop the laptop, Asus claims that the Asus tuf fx705 is tough enough to withstand “day-to-day” use, including the occasional bump.

Ports

The 17.3-inch matte display on the FX705DT can display 1,920 by 1,080 pixels in its native state. There is enough light (293.8 cd/m2) and contrast (988:1). In most cases, luminance levels of 300 cd/m2 and contrast ratios of 1000:1 are sufficient. Due to pulse width modulation, the display does not flicker (PWM).

The display, like its two reviewed siblings, is an IPS panel with wide viewing angles. While the values vary, this is to be expected given that even physically identical display panels will produce slightly different results.

Even though the FX705 lacks a USB Type-C port, the device’s Ethernet port and HDMI input will be appreciated by gamers. The 3.5mm headphone jack, USB 2.0 port, and two USB 3.0 inputs are located on the left side of the FX705.

My only criticism of this laptop is that the USB Type-A ports are all on one side. A Kensington lock is located on the right side of the notebook.

Display

Get rid of and sell that screen. The Asus tuf fx705 provides a vivid and detailed gaming experience with its 17.3-inch, 1080p display and 144-Hz refresh rate. In the trailer for the upcoming film Teen Spirit, I could see every stitch on Dakota Fanning’s shirt. As the pop star took the stage, a rainbow of colours rained down on the audience. The FX705 screen displayed a wide range of colours. From Fanning’s bright yellow waitress uniform to the deep neon pink of the wall behind her.

In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, I wanted to dive into the gorgeous turquoise-blue water. The displays were brilliantly rendered as my character explored a detailed jungle. When the graphics were set to Ultra, the dangerous Peruvian jungle’s flora and fauna appeared nearly as real as they are. When I looked up, I saw a canopy of greenery with individual tree leaves hanging down below.

The screen on the FX705 can accurately display 123% of the sRGB colour space. The displays on the Omen 15 (111%), and Gaming Laptop 17+ (120%). Moreover, the typical mainstream gaming laptop (111%) are all slightly darker. The Legion Y7000’s 15.6-inch (153 per cent) display offers a wider range of colours.

AMD and NVIDIA Power Comparison

The Asus TUF Gaming FX705DT is a 17.3-inch gaming laptop capable of running all modern games smoothly and efficiently. There are several alternatives to the model we reviewed, which costs $1,182.

The AMD Ryzen 5 3550H (Picasso) APU in the FX705DT has a TDP of 35 watts. The APU’s CPU has four cores that run at a 2.1 GHz base and can turbo boost to 3.7 GHz. Each CPU core can handle two threads at the same time.

Benchmark for multiple Asus tuf fx705 threads Cinebench began at 3.6-3.7 GHz and then dropped to 3.2-3.3 GHz. The single-threaded benchmarks were performed at speeds ranging from 1.7 to 3.7 GHz. When connected to an electrical outlet. The central processing unit operated at 2.3-2.4 GH and at 1.4-2.4 GHz (battery mode) when operating independently.

AMD’s 3550H APU competes directly with Intel’s Core i5 8300H and Core i5 9300H processors. However, in terms of raw CPU performance, the APU falls short of Intel. When compared to multi-threaded benchmarks, the performance gap in single-threaded tests is more pronounced. The Intel processors used here have a TDP that is 10 watts higher.
