The Graduate Management Admission Test is a computer based test which examines analytical, verbal, logical, mathematical reading and quantitative skills of an individual. It is basically meant for post graduation education programs like MBA. An all round knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry and specially focused on English language as it being the most important subject for selection. The exam has five attempts per individual in an year with minimum 16 days of gap between the exams as the rules say. Through GMAT students aspiring for management studies in business get approximately a variety of 8000 programs from over 2500 business schools including GMAT institutes across the world. GMAT is an amazing gate way for management aspiring students be it management of accountancy, business studies etc. it is one of those exams that lets the best and deserving students to get into their desired colleges. The paper has a set format which is strictly followed abiding by the time management the paper setters set. The paper is divided into four sections.: verbal, quantitative, analytical, integrated reasoning. Among these, half of the analytical questions are written and half are multiple choice. On the other hand, quantitative and verbal questions and integrated reasoning are multiple choice. The paper is total of three hours and seven minutes and time is distributed according to the difficulty level of per section. As the student solves the test and answers are answered correctly, the test taker increasing the difficulty level and eventually if answers are answered incorrectly the difficulty level is decreased to get an average score of each section and check the ability of the student so an over all preparation of the test is required. According to the new rules, students can choose any three sections from the four according to their abilities and knowledge with verbal being a compulsory section to choose as GMAT gives admission worldwide and English becomes a very important language for that. The fees for registering for the test is approximately rupees 18,000 and a valid identity proof is required for registration as well.
Now if by clearing test students get very good colleges, so obviously the test requires a lot of preparation to clear the test. So every students needs to have best preparation for GMAT. Here are some basic points to follow for preparation:
- Start preparation at least 6 months before the exam date to have a proper build up in your mind before exams.
- Solve analytical, logical and reasoning as many as possible. Take help from books or online stuff that provide questions and guidance for exams.
- Study each section separately and give equal time to each section. Priorities the section that are most likely to be chosen during the exam time.
- Select your exam date as per your preparation. Do not hurry to give exam as there are quite a good number of attempts.
