Performance

The GeForce GTX 670M is slightly faster than its predecessor, the GTX 570M, and its high-end card status means it offers performance comparable to the AMD Radeon HD 6970M. When compared to GTX 500M cards, the GTX 670M is closer to the GTX 560M (-15%) than the GTX 580M (+35%). Current-generation consoles should be able to run games at full HD resolution and ultra-high detail settings without issue by 2012. Few demanding games, such as Metro 2033 and Crysis 2, may necessitate lower graphical settings to ensure smooth gameplay.

Features

The GF114 chip, like the GF104 chip before it, supports Blu-ray Bitstream HD Audio output via HDMI. This means it can transmit Dolby True HD or DTS-HD bitstreams to a HiFi receiver without compromising quality.

For video decoding, the Nvidia GeForce gtx 670m uses PureVideo HD technology. The GeForce GTX 670M can be used in a wide range of computations due to its compatibility with CUDA, OpenCL, and DirectCompute 2.1. For example, the stream processor can encode videos much faster than many modern CPUs. The GPU can perform physics calculations if PhysX is supported (e.g., in Mafia 2 or Metro 2033).

Conclusion

While gaming, the GTX 670 M delivered a performance that only the best modern graphics cards can match. Both the AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition and the Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 cost £370 and is approximately 15% faster than the GTX 670. The £288 AMD Radeon HD 7950 is roughly 25% slower.
