The smartphone manufacturers are working on the technologies like 5G support, in-display fingerprint scanner, foldable phones, pop-up smartphone and dual-display device. From these technologies, the companies have succeeded in achieving the in-display fingerprint reader, foldable phone, pop-up smartphone, and dual display device.
Given below are the five new trends of the smartphone that will bring a huge change in the world of the smartphone in 2024.
In-display fingerprint sensor smartphones
There was a time when rear fingerprint sensor was in trend and there was a craze of such mobiles. But as time passed, the eagerness of customers to get a new technology increased due to which the mobile makers positioned the fingerprint scanner in the display which is dubbed as an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Technologies that showed the future of the in-screen fingerprint scanner is the Synaptics’ Clear ID and Qualcomm’s under-screen fingerprint readers. The first smartphone maker to get this technology is Vivo with the Vivo X20 Plus UD smartphone. After this launch, the people were expecting more such smartphones due to which almost every phone maker is following the footsteps of Vivo.
In 2024, the customers who are a die-heart fan of In-display fingerprint sensor smartphone will be happy as almost every company is following this trend and is manufacturing in-display fingerprint sensor in smartphones. Smartphones like Vivo V15 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S10, and many more come with this technology.
More smartphones with in-display fingerprint scanner will be seen in the coming days because of the demand from the customers.
In-display fingerprint lover has to just wait for some time more as there will be such smartphones everywhere very soon that too in a very affordable price.
Welcoming 5G smartphones,
At the beginning of the year, the US Government gave a green signal to the 5G strategy and told that the 5G will be launched until 2020. In the orders, it was written that enough spectrum is available and will be made available for 5G-support in the future years.
In 2018, the AT&T disclosed its plans about the 5G technology and till now Verizon has offered 5G in some states of the US. On the other hand, the T-mobile unveiled its plans to launch the 5G while the Sprint is planning to give 5G support smartphones to the US cities before the half of the year ends. Â
As per the rumours and speculations, the customers are ready for the 5G smartphones and are expecting to get it in very this year. The Samsung Galaxy S10 and the Sony Xperia XZ 4 will be the smartphones that will be handed to the customers with 5G support.
2020 will be the year of 5G and this can be said because it is among the hot topic of the year. In the next year, we will see only 5G smartphone around us as it can stand against the competitors and is the demand of the customers. While in 2019, the 5G support smartphones will be the talking point as it will be in the manufacturing stage which will be ready till 2020.
Foldable smartphones
Another technology that is raising the eyebrows other than 5G is foldable smartphones. Before making its foldable smartphone official, Samsung revealed the prototypes many a time i.e. in 2011, then in CES 2013 and at last it officially announced it in MWC 2019.
The Samsung foldable phone is dubbed as Galaxy Fold and was expected to launch by this month, but due to some reasons, the company will launch it by next month. And the company also said that it will manufacture more than one million units of the foldable phone within half the year of 2019.
Till now, the biggest announcement made for the foldable smartphone is the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X but these are not the first foldable smartphone. The first foldable smartphone is the Royole FlexPai.
Apart from these smartphone companies, Apple has also filed a patent regarding the foldable iPhone. Google also announced that Android will the one that will support the foldable smartphones.
After knowing all these things, we can surely say that the phone makers will not sit calmly and will provide their customers with the foldable smartphone as they do not want to lag behind others.
Rumours about Motorola Razr V4 has also arisen by which we can say that the foldable phones are the favourite among the makers and will become favourite among the customers very soon after the launch.
Dual display smartphones
The smartphone manufacturers are not ready to sit quietly as they want to give their best to their customers. So even after giving the above-mentioned technologies, they are working on the dual display smartphones. It came as a surprise to everyone when the company announced about the Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition on 11th Dec 2018 in Shanghai, China.
This announcement by Vivo made it ahead of other companies. Due to this, the competitors of the Vivo buckled down to bring this innovative idea. So they started working on the dual display smartphones. Vivo is the first to bring such smartphone and in 2018 ZTE was also spotted having a book-like unfolding smartphone. Other companies too are working hard to bring such smartphones but are failing as it is not an easy task.
Dual display smartphone has two displays i.e. one at the front and other at the back. Many attempts were made by YotaPhone and Meizu Pro 7 for dual display but failed. While on the other hand, the successful Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition comes with 6.4-inch full HD AMOLED screen at the front and at the back, it has 5.5-inch full HD AMOLED screen. The price tag of the dual display smartphone of Vivo is 4,998 Yuan in China i.e. roughly Rs 52,490 in terms of the Indian Currency.
In the second screen of the Vivo NEX Dual Display Edition smartphone, the same apps which are run on the front screen can be run at the back as well. The most attractive thing apart from the dual display is the camera, as the back camera can also be used as a front camera for capturing the selfies. The front camera is mostly fixed focus while the back cameras are more advanced comparatively.
The other dual display smartphone is the Nubia X which comes with an under-display fingerprint scanner which is built into both the screens.
With the help of dual screen, multitasking can be done as both the screen handles different works. And also the rear panel can be used as a controller while playing games. Dual-screen smartphones have come as a boon to the people who multitask and play games.
Pop-up selfie camera
The companies are racing to give a bezel-less smartphone to their customers due to which the companies started the trend of the notch. The notch size was based on the companies small or big but for the bezel-less screen, it was highly used. But later, the customers asked for more bezel-less smartphone and then pop-up front camera took birth. The companies dropped the plan of using notch, punch-hole and instead used pop-up front camera. This innovative idea is attracting the customers a lot.
This innovative idea was first used by Vivo in the Vivo V15 Pro. and later Oppo followed its footsteps and launched Oppo F11 Pro with the same technology. Now the talking point is the pop-up selfie camera of the iconic OnePlus smartphone i.e. OnePlus 7.
OnePlus offers its customers a standard smartphone which is just incredible. So everyone is eager to know about the pop-up camera of the OnePlus 7 and what the company is going to offer extra with this.
The pop-up selfie camera has started a trend of the almost total bezel-less smartphone due to which the customers attract toward it the most. Till now only a few companies adopted this idea, and till the end of the year, we will see many pop-up selfie camera smartphones as there is a huge demand for such smartphones.
